"The nurses were wonderful. I can't say enough about your service." "Everyone was very caring." "The staff was excellent…they became family in just the few days that they came." The realization that an illness has progressed beyond the point of recovery is a very difficult transition for a patient and their loved ones. We understand, and provide life-affirming hospice care that affords participants the best possible quality of life, living in the comfort and dignity of their own homes surrounded by loved ones. If you or someone you know is in need of hospice support, please call VNANNJ today to learn more about our hospice and meet the hospice team. If the time comes for a patient that has been receiving traditional VNANNJ care to transition to palliative care nursing, the agency assures continuity. Because VNANNJ offers a full-spectrum of home care services, the patient and their caregivers are provided the option of continuing to receive assistance from the VNANNJ team they are familiar with and the agency simply adjusts and expands its services to include end-of life, hospice support. Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNANNJ) hospice care is provided by a caring interdisciplinary team of physicians, visiting nurses, certified home health aids, social workers, bereavement and pastoral counselors and volunteers. The team works with your doctor to assist patients and their families with physical, emotional, and spiritual support while following an individualized care plan. VNANNJ hospice care continues for up to thirteen months after the loved one's death, with bereavement services offered through group and individual sessions. VNANNJ hospice care bereavement services are also offered for the public at community sites. In Their Own Words “Throughout our history, we have cared for patients at every stage of life. The establishment of a dedicated hospice program was a natural outgrowth of our century-old tradition of providing high-quality, compassionate care to seriously ill, homebound individuals.” – Faith F. Scott, Chief Executive Officer, VNANNJ “The most important skill that is required to be a good hospice volunteer is the ability to be a good friend and companion who can provide a distraction from health concerns.” – VNANNJ Hospice volunteer Click here to become a VNANNJ Hopsice volunteer. “The role of hospice nurse is a very special one and I am pleased to be able to assist my patients and their families during one of the most stressful and emotional times that anyone will face. Although I cannot offer my patients a cure for their illnesses, there is much that I can do from both a medical and human perspective to make the final phase of their lives more comfortable”. – VNANNJ Registered Nurse/Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse “I believe that everyone deserves the best possible care. I care for each patient the way that I cared for my own sister when she was seriously ill.” –VNANNJ Home Health Aide
