A visiting nurse job, providing home care solutions for patients undergoing geriatric rehabilitation or stroke rehabilitation.History of Home health aides and visiting nurse services of VNANNJ.

Now the greater Morris area's premier visiting nurse service, Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNANNJ) was established in 1898 by community leaders in Morristown to serve the poor who had no access to a home health care nurse. Throughout the early part of the century, the need for visiting nurses continued to grow for the poor and better off alike and the organization expanded its services to the areas outside of town and first incorporated in 1916 as the Visiting Nurse Association of Morristown, NJ.

In 1952, the Visiting Nurse Association of Morristown, NJ moved to an historic house on Elm Street, where it is still housed today. The Organization's service area expanded at that time to the county borders and the name was changed to The Visiting Nurse Association of Morris County. In succeeding decades, the agency started offering other types of home care solutions such as certified home health aides, and the name of the agency changed again, in 1995 to reflect its greater breadth, becoming Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNANNJ).

Today, VNANNJ is a leading home health care provider and social service provider in the greater Morris area with a variety of home care solutions that touch the lives of thousands of patients every year.

VNANNJ provides visiting nurses, certified home health aides, home health care for the elderly, Alzheimer's home care, palliative care nursing, hospice care, in-home physical therapy, geriatric rehabilitation, stroke rehabilitation, companionship, housekeeping assistance, nutrition services, social work, an adult day care center and highly advanced services such as intravenous therapy, wound care and psychiatric nursing.

VNANNJ also provides health and community-based services to the community. Additionally, VNANNJ provides low-cost influenza immunizations to over 2,500 people at public sites, provides information to the public about visiting nurse services of New Jersey, caring for aging parents, Alzheimer's home care, palliative care nursing and hospice care and also provides professional education symposia for nurses and doctors.
