Make Home a Safer Place for Aging Loved Ones Each year, one in four older adults experiences a fall (a major cause of injury and death), and most of these incidents happen at home. During National Safety Month, Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) reminds families that simple changes in the home can help prevent injuries and preserve independence. Our experienced nurses, therapists, and home health aides know how to spot the hazards that may go unnoticed, including: ✔️ Loose rugs and cluttered walkways ✔️ Poor lighting and unsafe stairs ✔️ Medication mix-ups or confusion ✔️ Lack of grab bars in bathrooms ✔️ And much more At VNA, we don’t just provide care — we help create safer living environments through home safety evaluations, fall-prevention strategies, and personalized plans. Here are helpful resources from VNA to view and download: Guide to Aging at Home, an action plan for safely aging in place, and our Spring Newsletter, featuring tips on how to Age with Independence & Dignity. Did you know that Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA)is the longest-serving VNA in the state of New Jersey? So we know a thing or two about healthy aging and how to successfully “age in place” while avoiding hospitalization and nursing homes. We suggest that you learn more about our home health care services and make a plan to age at home before you have a health emergency. Medicare and supplemental insurance often do not cover all the care our patients and caregivers need. If you would like to help, please visit vnannj.org/donate or call the VNA Foundation at 973-451-4148. Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) is a leading provider of comprehensive home health care and hospice services in Morris, Hunterdon, Sussex, Warren, Passaic, and Somerset Counties in Northern New Jersey. Will you have enough for home care?6/17/2025 Many seniors need more help than Medicare or Medicaid provides. “VNANNJ has been instrumental in my recovery process.” – Tom, VNA client At Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNANNJ), we’re more than the nurse who goes house to house. Our team also provides relief and comfort for caregivers and families who are often overwhelmed. What Dad Really Wants for Father’s Day6/10/2025 Nothing beats a message of genuine appreciation While every dad is unique, most dads will long remember a heartfelt letter, voice note, or video message of appreciation. This is an excellent gift for all Dads, from new ones to Grandpas. Here’s why: Meaningful Memories: Long after a product has worn out or been given away, this message will continue to inspire and remind him of the special bond he shares with his children. Personal Touch: These forms of appreciation are highly personalized, making them stand out compared to purchased gifts. Recognition and Validation: A letter, voice note, or video can articulate specific moments and qualities you admire, providing a sense of recognition and validation. Emotional Connection: Not everyone has a storybook father-child relationship. Consider that an honest and heartfelt message about what is appreciated versus faults and past hurts may help heal wounds and create a deeper emotional connection. We wish you all a Happy Father’s Day! Did you know that Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) is the longest-serving VNA in the state of New Jersey?
