 Cancer Prevention Everyone Can Do February is Cancer Prevention Month, a time to focus on the steps that can reduce risk, support early detection, and save lives. Many cancers are preventable or more treatable when caught early. The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) estimates that more than 40% of the 2 million cancer cases diagnosed last year, and nearly half of the more than 60,000 cancer deaths, can be attributed to preventable causes like smoking, alcohol consumption, sun exposure, excess body weight, and physical inactivity. At Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey, we educate patients about cancer prevention, how to recognize early warning signs, how to manage symptoms, and how to navigate recovery, all from the comfort of home. This Cancer Prevention Month is a good time to begin, or remember these important prevention tips:
