Did You Know? November is National Family Caregivers’ Month.

​Family caregivers make home health care possible.

This November, we honor family caregivers — the quiet heroes who make home health care possible. At Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA), our clinicians provide expert care, but it is the family caregiver who stands at the bedside long after we leave. They give their time, their strength, and their hearts.

Here are simple ways we can support them:

• Recognize them. Tell them you see their strength. Tell them they are doing a great job. Tell them they matter.
  
• Be present. Sit with the patient, deliver a meal, pick up groceries, just give a caregiver a moment to breathe.
  
• Help them rest. Explore respite care options available through VNANNJ.
  
• Share resources. Helpful guidance is available at VNANNJ.org and caregiveraction.org.
  

Because when we support caregivers, we also support the patients they love.
