Learning about home care and hospice matters. November is National Care at Home Month, and while it’s a wonderful time to honor our incredible nurses, therapists, and social workers, this month is about more than celebration. It’s about becoming a supporter — a voice for home health care and hospice at home for every patient who needs it. Millions of families rely on care that brings comfort, dignity, and independence into the home. Yet not everyone knows about these essential services or understands how critical they are to the well-being of patients and caregivers. Government funding for home health care and hospice is under threat due to Medicare and Medicaid cuts, so this month, we’re asking you to join us in raising awareness and advocating for continued access to compassionate home care and hospice support. Whether you share information, volunteer, or simply express gratitude, your involvement makes a difference. We invite you to learn more about these services at Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA). Thank you for being part of this mission. Together, we can ensure that every family has the option to receive care where it matters most — at home. Reminder -- MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT runs through December 7th. Provisions and costs associated with Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Supplement plans, and Part D prescription plans may be subject to change in 2026. If you’re currently enrolled in a plan – or you’ll be age 65 soon – take advantage of this annual opportunity to shop around and compare your options. Did you know that Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) is the longest-serving VNA in the state of New Jersey? So we know a thing or two about healthy aging and how to successfully “age in place” while avoiding hospitalization and nursing homes. We suggest that you learn more about our home health care services and make a plan to age at home before you have a health emergency. Medicare and supplemental insurance often do not cover all the care our patients and caregivers need. If you would like to help, please visit vnannj.org/donate or call VNA Foundation at 973-451-4148. The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey (VNA) is a leading provider of comprehensive home health care services in Morris, Hunterdon, Sussex, Warren, Somerset, and Passaic Counties in Northern New Jersey. Established in 1898, generations have known that just one call to VNA opens the door to quality, patient-centered home health care solutions that allow patients to remain in the comfort of their homes with dignity, health, and independence. © All content on The Visiting Nurse Association of Northern New Jersey's website, including blog posts, may be reproduced only if attributed to our organization with a link to vnannj.org.
